State of CEE Part I

Central and Eastern Europe is a diverse, complex, and exciting region, and its no-longer-“emerging” markets range from fully functioning, democratic, and transparent, to highly complicated, authoritarian, and erratic. Opportunities for investors remain, but the 24 markets that make up the region are unique, with separate legal and regulatory regimes, investment climates, and judiciaries. Our panel of legal practitioners from across the region will provide an overview of CEE as it emerges from the Covid-19 pandemic and announces itself ready for business.

Top Tech Tools: LegalTech in CEE

The development of ever-more-sophisticated technology and software to assist individual lawyers, law firms, and medium and large scale businesses with practice management, document automation, document storage, billing, accounting, and electronic discovery brings undeniable benefits in the form of speed, efficiency, and reliability, but it also raises concerns about the possibility that younger lawyers may be losing skills previous generations took for granted. Our speakers will review how the Covid-19 pandemic sped up the development and use of LegalTech, which tools are useful (and which less so), and what’s coming around the corner.

Improving the Pipeline: Creating and Expanding ILF-CEE Referral Relationships

Like any other relationships, partnerships between international law firms and domestic and regional CEE firms require trust, communication, and care. Our speakers – all London-based lawyers with decades of experience in advising CEE-based counterparts on multi-national deals – will discuss how CEE firms can improve their ability to establish, develop, and nurture these relationships: How they should position themselves to obtain more business from international firms, and how to make sure that business keeps coming.
